“Leave it at the Door'' is the next exhibition scheduled to open at e11even 2 gallery on Friday, November 18th from 5-9pm. There’s no glitter, no tricks up our sleeves- just a good ol’ art show. The 3 artists attended Trinity High School together and after graduation went their separate ways. Each dabbled in art over the years and then social media re-connected them. Through conversations regarding the dreaded “artist block,” the idea of this show was born. Each artist discussed their struggles with overly harsh criticism causing major doubts in their artistic ability. These moments of doubt caused them each to step away from creating for a period of time. However, like most artists, the desire and urge to create is ingrained in their being and all came back to what they love.

Amy says, “Leave it at the Door is a powerful, inspirational title for me. It is a constant reminder to push past criticism, apply what I can and leave the rest ‘at the door’ so it never invades my studio again. We all agreed that our evolution and continued success as creators is dependent on this. We know that it will inspire others that come through our door.” Amy will be showing larger than life drawn portraits of her muses during the pandemic.

Karen is planning for an installation of her highly sought after hand-thrown ceramic mugs. She says, “we are combining three mediums- ceramics, mixed media and watercolor. This will allow the viewers a glimpse into what makes each of us tick, what inspires us and essentially, what keeps us going creatively.”

Christina is best known for photography of Cleveland and landscapes from her travels. “I will be showing my progression into a new medium- watercolor. Over the last year, I have been exploring painting as a new way to create. You will see my earliest paintings and how I have progressed to today. My goal is to encourage people just to start. Nobody is a master at the beginning.”

So plan to “Leave it at the Door.” Leave what you ask? Leave all the negativity of the week, the bad juju, anything you need to… Just come in and enjoy the show. The artists look forward to sharing their newest creations with you!
