Trinity Student Jordyn Rainer
Succeeds in Multiple Medical Career Opportunities!
This school year was a very busy
one for Trinity Junior Jordyn Rainer. Not only did she succeed in her
academic classes, but she participated in Trinity High School’s
Pre-Professional Internship Program, The Cleveland Clinic’s Aspire Program, and
University Hospital’s Youth Advisory Board.
Jordyn’s weekly internship
placement was at South Pointe Hospital where she assisted and observed on
different floors including the ICU and found that she loves working with
patients and building relationships with the staff there.
Jordyn was also selected for the
Cleveland Clinic’s Howley Aspire Program which meant that she spent every
Saturday being immersed in the medical field. She traveled to Cleveland
Clinic’s main campus and participated in virtual and robotic simulations and
learned from Registered Nurses in different fields. She toured Ursuline
College and heard from alumni and was inspired by their experiences. Jordyn
will continue with the Aspire program for her senior year and will ultimately
be eligible to receive a scholarship opportunity from Ursuline College towards
a nursing degree.
Finally, Jordyn was accepted for a
paid position on University Hospital’s Rainbow Babies and Children’s Hospital
Youth Advisory Council Board. This board, known as “KIDS Rainbow," is an initiative to promote youth leadership and
collaboration within healthcare. Jordyn and her team meet and discuss
children’s health issues and offer input on where funding should be allocated.
This board gives Jordyn opportunities to present her views and to listen to
others.
Participating in
all three of these programs during the school year is even more amazing when
you discover that Jordyn also holds down a part-time job at McDonald’s!
Jordyn’s career goal is to become
a Plastic Surgeon to help others feel comfortable within themselves. We
know that with her determination and work ethic, she will reach any goal she
sets for herself!
