External validation team to visit Trinity
Trinity High School will host an External Validation Team (EVT) visit as part of our accreditation process on February 23-24, 2010. The EVT visit is the culmination of a school-wide self-study that began with the 2008-2009 school year. The purpose of the visit is to gain expert peer-review and guidance on our school’s preliminary school improvement plan and to verify compliance with all state operating standards.

The Ohio Catholic School Accrediting Association requires all Catholic schools to participate in continuous improvement activities on an on-going basis, and the External Validation Team visit typically takes place during the second year of the six year cycle. Mr. Timothy Mahoney, principal of Cardinal Stritch High School of the Kateri Catholic School System in Oregon, Ohio has been appointed as the chairperson of the External Validation Team. Mr. Mahoney brings a wealth of experience as a team leader and has an extensive background in educational technology. Other members of the team include: Sr. Mary Alice Jarosz, SSJ-TOSF who is responsible for mission integration at The Village at Marymount; Br. Tom Carroll, OFM, who is the Academic Dean at Padua Franciscan High School; Mr. Joseph Gressock, who is the principal of Benedictine High School, and Ms. Patricia Kenzig, who is a science teacher at Beaumont High School.

Trinity has selected two goals for its preliminary school improvement plan. We plan to strengthen our Catholic Identity through greater attention to our Franciscan heritage and charism. Sr. Mary Alice and Br. Tom Carroll will lend their expertise to this area. We also plan to focus greater attention on critical thinking skills to help our students improve their scientific reasoning abilities. Mr. Gressock and Ms. Kenzig will assist our staff with this goal. Mr. Gressock will also represent the North Central Association Commission on Accreditation and School Improvement. Trinity High School has earned dual accreditation through this organization.

At the conclusion of the EVT visit, the team will offer our school its recommendations for strengthening our school improvement plan. After incorporating these recommendations into the plan, we will implement the strategies we have outlined and measure the results of our work on an on-going basis. We will evaluate the overall effectiveness of the plan during the 2013-2014 school year when we near the conclusion of the six-year cycle.

Trinity High School has been a proud member of the Ohio Catholic School Accrediting Association since its inception in 1994, and has maintained continuous accreditation (as St. Joseph Academy, Marymount High School and Trinity High School) through the North Central Association Commission on Accreditation and School Improvement for the past 78 years.
