|Students working together for peace, service and justice in the Franciscan Tradition.
The Instruments of Peace is a wonderful organization at Trinity dedicated to social justice and taking a stance on behalf of all Catholics. None of it would have been possible without the students. It was because of their interest in things such as the protest at Lucasville state prison that this organization was able to take off.
Francis of Assisi was God's instrument of peace. He was a man who appealed to the heart. He was never accused of being lukewarm. He lived his life afire. He lived a life of radical devotion to God and to the service of others, especially the poor and downtrodden. Following in the footsteps of Jesus, the members of Instruments of Peace strive to see Christ in our fellow sisters and brothers, just as Saint Francis did.
Members of the Instruments of Peace protest executions at state prisons, walk on behalf of Trinity at the Pro-Life March in Washington, D.C. and lead Trinity through Pro-Life Week in January.
"I am always willing to stand up for what I believe in, most of the time through speeches and debates. I thought I was doing all I could until after this year. Now I understand the saying, 'Actions speak louder than words.'"
By working for the justice and rights of all, members of Instruments of Peace are not only hearing the Gospel, they're living it. With the strength of our Lord, the support of the Trinity community and the love of life, these students have the power to move mountains.
